   Myo means muscles
Fascia is the connective tissue under the skin, which covers your whole body. It also covers all bones, muscles & organs. It wraps the entire body like an elastic body stocking.

Fascia offers flexibility & elasticity to the body, bones & muscles. If, however. There is no movement in the body (a person does no sport) fascia starts to contract & thicken leading to reduced flexibility & elasticity.

If there are injuries, strains, operations, scars, trauma, repeated use & over use movements these also lead to adhesions in fascia, eventually pulling the whole body out of alignment. These sometimes lead to chronic problems & pain e.g. chronic back pain, lordosis, sciatica, frozen shoulder, etc.

Myofascia treatment works physically on the whole body, the muscles & the fascia. The client is introduced to this therapy via a Core Body Awareness Exercise, a 5 step Isometric exercise, which assesses the client’s posture, position of shoulders, head, chin, pelvic area & stance. This exercise is used as a monitoring & maintenance device providing feedback on which regions of the body are either restricted or under strain. Using this exercise the client will become aware of how her body is functioning.

The therapist identifies particular areas needing work & structural realignment. A Myofascia treatment includes varying types of massage, stretching & range of motion movements.

   Benefits:

Relieves strain on overused muscles
Improves balance & flexibility
Improves movement & elasticity of the body
Brings the body back into structural alignment
Facilitates clients awareness of his body & the way it functions
Helps chronic problems through releasing the fascia (whole body connective tissue)
